Why Builders Work with Us for Smart Home New Constructions

Take Your Constructions to the Next Level with the Right Technology Partner

Homebuilders are increasingly looking to attract buyers with technology-forward projects. It’s no longer enough to provide plumbing and electric foundations; they also expect smart technology features. Ready-made smart homes are a great marketing tool for builders who want to stand out from competitors. Through partnerships with integrators, builders can provide smart home new constructions for their clients without becoming experts themselves.

JM Resources excels at this type of partnership. For example, we just worked with a builder in the Philadelphia, PA area to develop 100 luxury homes, each priced over a million dollars. Here we outline precisely what this project entailed and how the builder benefited from working with our experts for all their technology needs.

Setting a Basic Foundation

These luxury homes included a standard wiring foundation for security, connectivity, and entertainment. Though most clients don't care if they have a wireless or wired version of these, they care that it works consistently. Our hardwired solutions will perform better and longer than their wireless counterparts.

Each home has a fully wired security system with a video doorbell and pre-wires for future home automation ecosystems. We also included cable-proof wires for outdoor cameras and a PoE foundation to add cameras and touchpads down the line as part of this security-focused pre-wire.

Networks are as vital as electricity in a modern smart home which is why each property is fully pre-wired for a future network, including 5 WAP locations spread throughout the house. Dedicated entertainment areas and bedrooms also include basic infrastructure for connectivity. Three rooms come with audio pre-wires as well.

Additional Return on Investment

How does this baseline technology create a greater return on investment for home builders? We meet with the homeowners during the project to talk about the package that comes with the home. We set expectations and, just as importantly, guide them on possible upgrades that make sense on a case-by-case basis.

Not only might they want to expand the number of audio zones or integrate new cameras, but they often introduce entirely new features. For example, during our work with this builder, we've seen clients add lighting, thermostats, dedicated theaters, and home automation systems through Control4 or Alarm.com.

One-Stop-Shop for All Technology

We're the go-to partners for home builders because we give them the ability to address all their technology needs through one vendor. With experience in the security business for over 40 years and as one of the few Platinum Control4 dealers in the area, we deliver both the AV and security aspects of a project as few integrators can.
